Through a need based, evidence driven, and collaborative approach, the Foundation strives to strengthen primary healthcare systems, advance public health governance, and improve the health and wellbeing of underserved communities across India.
Mission
To strengthen community based screening, early detection, and timely referral for cervical, breast, oral, and lung cancers, alongside common non communicable diseases including diabetes and hypertension, by promoting health seeking behaviour, improving risk identification, empowering frontline health workers, and building integrated care pathways that enhance health outcomes and quality of life.
Our Core Values
Our work is anchored in Seva (Selfless Service), driven by Equity to ensure every individual has access to quality screening, early detection, and timely care. We uphold the highest standards of Clinical Excellence and Evidence Based Practice, while maintaining Radical Transparency and accountability in all our partnerships. Above all, we lead with Compassion, treating every individual with the Dignity, Respect, and Care they deserve, while working collaboratively to strengthen healthier communities.
Objectives
To address the issue of early detection, by training the frontline health workers and strengthening the existing eco-system at the district and state level. The project will be implemented in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt., of Odisha, National Health Mission, Govt., of Odisha and Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (CCHRC), which has successfully implemented a cancer screening program in Assam, under the guidance of Padmashree Dr. Ravi Kannan, who also happens to be the recipient of the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award 2023, for his pioneering work in Cancer prevention and treatment.
The focus will be on addressing issues and challenges of early detection of cancer, which also includes poor Awareness, Accessibility and screening and integration with
other health services and government schemes, and follow-up care.
The intervention will lead to improving self-awareness, better self-reporting, resulting in a higher percentage of screening of symptomatic and self-willing individuals by front-line health workers and community health officers and further referrals, to District health Hospitals, District Medical College and Hospitals in the intervention districts and the Tertiary Cancer Hospital in Cuttack. The entire process will be undergirded by technology tools and use technology platforms, for a seamless integration and finally feed into the development of population based cancer registry, being developed by the Government of Odisha – Health and Family Welfare Department (HFW), in association with Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) and NISER.
